JFI aims more Olympian judokas from Manipur

With an aim to produce more Olympic Judokas from India's power house of sport -Manipur, Judo Federation of India (JFI) is all set to conduct various developmental programs including 'Judo for peace' .
Speaking to media persons at the Conference Hall of Manipur Olympic Association, Khuman Lampak here today, Mukesh Kumar, the newly elected president of JFI, said that highest numbers of talented judokas come Manipur and for the game it is the most prolific state.
As most young promising judokas come from Manipur, the federation is oblige to groom them for the upcoming 2020 Olympic.
Highlighting some of the developmental and coaching programs which are in the pipeline for judokas of Manipur, Mukesh Kumar confirmed resumption of the suspended 'Judo for Peace' projects to hone the talents of judokas by foreign coaches.
On the need to promote and develop the game at a higher level in the country, the JFI president said that in memory of late first Indian Olympian Judoka from the state, Lourembam Brojeshori, the Sub-Junior National Overall Trophy would be named after her.
S Indrakumar, Secretary of Manipur Judo Association, who was also present o the occasion, said that coaching and special training sessions would be started soon after completion of the Judo Complex.
Among a host of judokas in the state around 1000 male and female are national level players and half of them are international judokas.
Manipur would host the Sub-Junior National Judo Championship which would be kicked off from 6-10 August, 2013 at Khuman Lampak.
