As part of the children's day celebration at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur, Imphal, legal experts and child rights activists sensitized students about the need of law in social setup besides creating awareness about the various enacted laws for ensuring children rights.
Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) former Chairperson S Saratkumar Sharma, its (the commission) incumbent Member K Pradeep Kumar, Child Rights and You (CRY) General Manager Mahua Chatterjee and Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Vice Principal Kh Prafullo Singh attended the function as presidium members.
Speaking at the function, Saratkumar conveyed that the objective of the programme was to create legal awareness to the students, more particularly the adolescent students so that they can act per the law or run their life within the legal purview.
He also contended that the new idea of maintaining separate Ministry for child development is a good initiative and went on to observe that CSOs and NGOs must works towards fulfilling the idea.
Mahua Chatterjee enlightened students about delivering the rights of children and its requirements.
Informing that CRY has been conducting a social media campaign to support child rights and to ensure the country's children rights are not deprived, she asked all to participate in the campaign as well.
Delivering the children's day wish, Chatterjee asked all children to be good and do well.
Pradeep Kumar and Manipur High Court Advocate Th Rajkishore Singh have also spoken on the topics "challenges of JJ Act, RTE and Child Labour" and "POCSO Act and Child Marriage Act" respectively as the resource persons during the function.
