Imphal, December 13, 2011:
'Go back Ibobi to Khangabok and leave Thoubal' rant the air during a press conference at the Nityapat Chuthek office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here today.
Convened by President of BJP Minority Morcha MS Rahamad Tula, the press conference was addressed by many Muslim workers of the party.
Indira Oinam, the proposed candidate of BJP against Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in Thoubal Assembly Constituency in the upcoming state Assembly election was also present during the press conference.
Talking to mediapersons, Muslim workers of BJP asserted that the main reason behind the attempt of the Congress workers to cause disruption in the public meeting addressed by National Vice President of BJP Dr Najma Heptullah at Moijing on December 11 was the perceived threat to the Congress party following more and more minority Muslims joining the BJP.
Supplementing them, Rahamad Tula observed that BJP is not at all anti-Muslim.
But the Congress party has been trying to mislead the people.
It is unfortunate that in its attempt to extricate itself from the undemocratic conduct of its workers in the Thoubal Moijing incident, the Congress party has hired some people of two unknown organizations to level serious charges against Dr Heptullah.
He contended that Dr Heptullah had not done anything which is against the custom of the Muslims.
In accordance to Koran, it is no great sin if a Muslim woman, who cannot bear any more child, does away with the purdah.
Dr Heptullah was to announce some development packages for the Muslims in Manipur.
But that chance has been lost on account of the furor created by disgruntled Congress workers, Rahamad Tula lamented.
He demanded that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh should leave Thoubal and go back to Khangabok since a competent leader has come out in Thoubal Assembly Constituency.
Disruptions in public meeting held in connection with election had never ever occurred in Thoubal Assembly Constituency.
If such anti-social activities are allowed to go on, unnecessary tension would be created among the various communities like Meetei, Muslims and Tribal living in the Constituency, Rahamad Tula added.
Indira Oinam, who also addressed the press conference, alleged that Ibobi had used coercive force to contest in the election from Thoubal Assembly Constituency and after his election he has not done anything apart from taking bribe and making appointments.
Indira claimed that she has been providing livelihood to 1800 Muslims in Thoubal and cementing the emotional bond.At the end of the press conference, the attending Muslim workers of BJP shouted the slogan, 'Go back Ibobi to Khangabok and leave Thoubal'.
