57th National School Games from today

Imphal, December 10 2011:
The 57th Edition of the National Inter School Games Meet - 2011 will begin tomorrow at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
Department of Youth Affairs and Sports is organising the meet under the aegis of School Games Federation of India.Imphal will be hosting the U-17, U-14 boys and girls football and Thang-Ta events for boys and girls as part of the meet and which will go on for 6 days.
State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Sports Minister DD Thaisii will grace the opening ceremony as Chief Guest and President respectively.
President, Manipur Olympic Association MLA Bijoy Koijam will be the Guest of Honour.
In all 21 states will be participating in the events out of which students and officials of 19 states have reached Imphal today.
642 students including 210 U-14 football players, 298 U-17 football players, 76 boys Thang-Ta players and 58 girls Thang-Ta players will be participating in the meet.
Officials and students of Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhatishgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Nagaland, Odissa, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Vidya Bharti have reached Imphal today.
The Bihar team is expected to reach here tomorrow morning.
It may be mentioned that Thang-Ta, the indigenous games of Manipur, is being introduced for the first time in the School Games Meet.
All necessary arrangements for successful organising of the meet have been completed.
The events of the meet will be held at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak Hockey Practice Ground, Mapal Kangjeibung and ESU ground, Wangkhei.
Manipur's U-17 girls football team will clash with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi in group A.They have their first match against Delhi tomorrow at 2 pm at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
U-14 girls football team of Manipur will clash with Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu in Group A.They will be their first match against Tamil Nadu on December 15 at 8.30 am at Khuman Lampak Hockey Practice Ground.
