Bailey bridges
Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, December 13 2011:
To redress the problems encountered while shipping in materials for the railway track laying work between Jiribam and Tupul due to weak bridges, two bailey bridges would be constructed over Makru and Barak rivers.
Construction materials which weigh more than 40 tonnes are dismantled into several pieces before crossing the dilapidated bridges along Imphal-Jiribam highway.
The State Government decided to construct the new bridges at the request of Railways authority towards this end.
