'Dental college in RIMS soon'

A New Dental College will soon come up in the RIMS, said Director RIMS Professor S Shekharjit today.
Speaking in a press meet today, Shekharjit said that RIMS has made impressive strides in many spheres since its inception in 1972.All the required materials for opening a Dental College have been installed in the RIMS.
He said that the Blood Bank of RIMS has been upgraded to Blood Transfusion Department.
The intake capacity of MBBS students in the institution have also been increased to 100 from 50 which may even increased upto 150 seats.
Post graduate courses which had only 75 seats have also been increased to 147 seats.
New Advance Technology CT Scan machines, new X-ray machines and machines with which bloodless surgeries can be carried out have also been installed in the institutes, he said.
The existing OPD building of the will converted into a multi story building to accommodate the heavy influx of OPD patients.
The Emergency Ward of RIMS will also be upgraded with a 50 bedded ward soon.
In order to meet the number of emergency patients in the department, six new medical officers will be appointed and utilized in the department 24x7 service, he said.
The ICU in RIMS has 30 beds at present.
The authority is also planning to set up a Pediatrics ICU at the earliest.
New machines for the treatment cancer have also been installed.
RIMS has many good doctors now and as soon as the infrastructures of the institute are upgraded, it will become a premiere hospital, he said.
