State logs 736 new cases, 10 deaths; 921 recover

Imphal, August 08 2021:
The state on Sunday recorded 10 fatalities and 736 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 5597 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 13.15 per cent, which is slightly lower than 14.15 per cent recorded on Saturday.
The active caseload has come down to 7951 out of which 3082 (38.76 per cent) are in home isolation, 2587 (32.54 per cent) in CHICs, 1363 (17.14 per cent) in CCCs and 919 (11.56 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 136 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 363 are on oxygen support and 73 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 58 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Sunday evening, 232 beds including 59ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals excluding JNIMS, and 2137 beds in different CCCs.
There is no updated information on district hospitals and CHCs but as of Saturday evening these facilities had 175 beds including 14 in ICU/HDU.
So far, the state has recorded 74,924 positive cases and 1276 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 5825 new cases and 94 fatalities were added during the current month.
The last seven days witnessed an addition of 4993 new cases and 84 fatalities.
According to official reports, the 736 new cases included 733 people (351 male & 382 female) from among the general population and three personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (49), JNIMS (15), District Hospitals (526) and other testing centres (146).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (206), Imphal West (244), Thoubal (37), Bishnupur (66), Kakching (19), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (42), Chandel (10), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (54), Pherzawl (7) and Kangpokpi (4) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East S, Bishnupur (l), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi and Churachandpur (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1650.Out of the 10 victims, one had no co-morbid conditions and none had taken Covid vaccines.
In the last 24 hours, 921 patients were discharged from home isolation (463), RIMS (11), JNIMS (7), CCCs (238) and CHICs (202).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,04,324 (general population - 1,00,267 and CAPF personnel - 4,057) .
Number of recovered cases is 94,723 (general population - 90,759 and CAPF personnel - 3,964) and number of active cases is 7,951 (general population - 7,863 and CAPF personnel - 88).The recovery rate is 90.79 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2066 D-type and 300 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Vaccination rate remains low and only 10,119 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday.
The cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,45,288.However, number of fully vaccinated people is only 2,45,017 out of 2,96,894 eligible persons.
Meanwhile, 17 new positive cases were detected out of 99 samples tested from Saturday 2 pm to Sunday 2 pm in Kakching district.
Two cases were detected at Ema Hospital, five at Jivan Hospital and 11 at different government RAT sites.
One is from Thoubal district and two from Charidel district while the remaining are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (34,951), Imphal East (23,392), Thoubal (8650), Churachandpur (8889), Kangpokpi (2460), Tamenglong (2887), Bishnupur (7793), Senapati (1898), Ukhrul (1867), Kakching (5784), Chandel (2036), Noney (906), Tengnoupal (985), Jiribam (963), Kamjong (605), and Pherzawl (258).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (558), Imphal East (391), Thoubal (151), Churachan dpur (143), Kangpokpi (54), Tamenglong (12) Bishnupur (157), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (21), Kakching (101), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 33,620 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,901 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,63,664 tests per million population against the national average of 3,44,138 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5597 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.15 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.24 per cent.
