School appeals Govt for essential facilities

As the fate of higher education in the State hangs in thin air with no sign of an end to the impasse in the Manipur University, lower education - high school and secondary education too are facing quite uneasy atmosphere with many of the schools across the State reeling under various irregularities/lack of infrastructures.
One such school which is reeling under severe lack of infrastructure is a Junior High School in Leibi, Moreh Block, Tengnoupal.
The Jr High School in Leibi village, some 24 km from Moreh has no proper toilet complex for the 60 students plus the staff.
The schools which have no computers in this digital age has been carrying out its various works with pen and paper.
At examination times, the teachers would write the questions on plain papers and distribute them to the students at the examination hall, said DL Moses, convenor of SMDC.
"We have requested concerned authorities on many occasions regarding the infrastructure needs of the school" .
The school has no proper fencing and lack many other infrastructures which are required for smooth functioning, he said and appealed the department concerned and Government to look into the matter and provide the infrastructures needed in time in the interest of the students.
