Imphal, March 23 2014:
Seven political parties of the Left and Secular Alliance (LSA) have decided to support the NCP's Outer Manipur candidate C Doungel in the ensuing Lok Sabha election.
It may be noted that the LSA comprising non-Congress and non-BJP political parties has set up CPI's Dr M Nara as the common candidate for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency for the coming Lok Sabha election, but the Alliance has failed to set up the common candidate for Outer Manipur.
The seven parties which have endorsed NCP's C Doungel are CPI, BSP, Shiv Sena, JD (S), RSP, AIFB and CPM.
Their decision was announced at the office of CPI, Manipur State Council here today.
Talking to media persons, Convenor of LSA Kshetrimayum Shanta said that a meeting of the alliance's core committee held on March 19 had consented JD (U) to field its own candidate in Outer Manipur while the other constituent parties have been given the liberty to endorse their own candidates for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
On the other hand, the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) has decided to support CPI's Dr M Nara in Inner Manipur and NPF's Soso Lorho in Outer Manipur.
