CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam has urged the leaders and people of all communities residing in the State, to prevent their community members from indulging in wrongful deeds/acts.
He opined that the State will be peaceful and prosperous when all the community leaders take this responsibility with a vision of forming a unified and vibrant Manipur.
Speaking as the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony of the 4th State Level Spelling, Maths and Meitei Mayek Competition which was organized by the Social Youth Progressive Organization (SYPO) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal today, the Minister also appealed to all community leaders to take pivotal role in exterminating communal feelings and hatred between members of the communities.
He went on to opined that any community in the State should not feel inferior or lower esteem, but should rather show their strength and capabilities by contributing to growth and progress of the society.
Lauding that many youths from Meitei Pangal community have now come out on the social platform and are carrying out intensified campaign against drug abuse in the State, Shyam further urged all community leaders in the State to collectively fight against social evils.
He added that minority communities will be the role models for others when there more productive members.
JCILPS, Manipur co-convenor Kheiruddin Shah Moijing Mayum who also attended as a guest of honour asked Meitei Pangal communities to put their original surnames while writing their names to promote and strengthen their existence and presence as indigenous community in the State.
Asserting that there is information about some individuals insisting land owners in the seven Assembly segments of Imphal not to sale their lands to Meitei Pangal community, the JCILPS co-convenor appealed all individuals concerned not to carry out such deeds which may sow seed of hatred.
Moirang A/C MLA P Saratchandra Singh, Thoubal Adaksha Hasina Begum and Rural Area United Club Organization (RAUCO) president Md Helaludin among others also attended the function as presidium members.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of different categories of the competitions during the function.
