Imphal, December 22 2018:
All Manipur Muslims Organizations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) and its coordinating bodies strongly condemned Minuthong Social Welfare Union, Hafiz Hatta, formaking baseless allegations against Advocate Ravi Khan in connection with the recent 'attack' at Waqf/Wakf Board office located at Hatta.
Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, today, AMMOCOC president SM Jalal decried that those who vandalized the Waqf Board office on December 14 have denied committing the offence although the wrongful act was carried out in front of many witnesses.
He went on to state that the 'criminals/offenders' have even made baseless charges against Advocate Ravi Khan for opposing their act.
Further saying that Meitei Pangals have been settling in the State since time immemorial and it is widely accepted by all the well-known historians of the State, Jalal contended that Meitei Pangals or Manipuri Muslims have every right to live in a dignified manner.
Informing that the incumbent State Government has ultimately approved the long standing demand of Meitei Pangals and AMMOCOC for constructing a market complex at Meitei Pangal concentrated area, the AMMOCOC president decried that a group of people is constantly trying to obstruct the Government's initiative for their vested interest.
He declared that AMMOCOC and its constituent Meitej Pangal organizations are always ready to defend, preserve and carry forward the Meitei Pangal community while cautioning that any activities that amount to threatening the identity of Meitei Pangals will not be tolerated.
Jalal then appealed the union which is allegedly instigating people to vandalize the Waqf Board office to come on the negotiation table and bring mutual understanding between the two sides at the earliest.
