TDCM demands immediate release of PMEGP 2014-15 fund

Tribal Development Council Manipur (TDCM) has demanded the immediate release of fund meant for the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) 2014-15 in Ukhrul District.
In a press note, TDCM Secretary K Angphun said the lackadaisical response and implicit silence maintained for a considerable period of time by the authority of State bank of India (SBI) and United Bank of India (UBI) Ukhrul Branch despite of repeated approach and appeal being in regards to financial sanctions being earmarked for the respective beneficiaries for different projects, has compelled the TDCM to raise its voice.
TDCM said the banks have recommended by the implementing agencies - Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) and District Industries Centre (DIC) for financial sanctions to be awarded to the beneficiaries.
However, the concerned authorities of SBI and UBI, Ukhrul Branch have failed to deliver citing "some vague reason" .
The administrative negligence meant blocking developmental activities in the District, said TDCM.
The council has urged the authority of SBI and UBI Ukhrul Branch to release the amount to the beneficiaries within 10 days before the completion of the current financial year 2014-15 .
TDCM warned that if the authorities failed to respond, the council will be resort to different forms of democratic agitations.
