Imphal, March 20 2015 :
Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has urged the public to extend sincere cooperation and support to the ongoing non-cooperation movement being enforced on non-locals.
In a statement, JCILPS said that the committee was compelled to launch the movement as an anti-indigenous people Bill was introduced and subsequently passed in the State Assembly.
The committee urged the women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel to join the Imas, who are currently staging a relay hunger strike as part of the issue.
On the other hand, JCILPS lauded the contributions and efforts of women vendors, local club volunteers, intellectuals, legal experts, academicians, media persons and general public in the movement for 'self protection' .
Saying that it is the responsibility of the people of the current generation to work for the well being of the future generations, the statement urged different sections of the society to put in sincere efforts towards protection of indigenous people.
Expressing thanks to the individuals who have posted positive and encouraging comments on the social, print and electronic media, the statement said that JCILPS keeps its door wide open to constructive suggestions and criticisms regarding the issue.
Urging the public not to hinder the volunteers of JCILPS when they visit various localities to carry out needful action in connection with the ongoing non-cooperation movement, the statement said that the movement intends to save the people of the State from 'demographic invasion', which is witnessed even in developed countries.
On the other hand, JCILPS lauded Moirangkampu Nupi Thoudang Lup and Pong Lambi Re-opening Demand Committee for staging sit-in-protest at Moirangkampu Khewa Keithel on the issue.
