Imphal, April 01 2009:
With a view to attracting Muslims voters, the CPI in the state is campaigning for its candidate Dr M Nara by going round to the mosques and directly talking with the Muslim religious leaders and others.
As part of the election strategy, the CPI candidate Dr M Nara today went to the mosque at Porompat Pangal Leirak and meet with the Muslim priests and leaders there.
During the meeting, Dr Nara promised them of making efforts to uplift the standard of living of the Muslim community in the state, if he is elected as MP from the state.
The same campaign was also conducted at Heingang.
There, while addressing a public meeting, he appealed to the Muslims to give up community-based politics and come to a common platform for a new political scenario and save the state.
Leaving aside contesting and voting for winning only, now the time has come to enter a new era of electing a person with sincerity in heart as the people's representative leaving behind the old traditional method of choosing their representative.
In the present contest, people's representatives are acting as masters forgetting that they are the servants of the people.
Whereas, people also forget that they are the masters in a democratic country.
So, people should think twice and cast their votes, Dr Nara said.
He further said that to save Manipur, actions to empower the women's section of the society have become a must.
For this the CPI is keeping a special eye on the empowerment of women, he said adding that for uplifting the women in the society they are to be organised in a true way.
Cautioning the communal minded men in the fray, Nara urged the people to break hand of such people stressing the need for choosing the party which can face with the raising power of the communal forces.
BJP and Congress will never stand and fight with the communal forces as only the third front which CPI is apart will able to fight effectively with the forces, he said.
Nara, who according to the observers increasing his popularity among the people also said that if he be voted to power, he can bring people to the way of a new Manipur.
During the meeting United People Organisation (UPO) having around 180 members and having its jurisdiction across the Heingang Assembly constituency has also announced their support to the CPI candidate.
They also assured campaign for him.
Meanwhile, members of the Heingang Kendra MPP left the party and extended support to the CPI candidate as announced in the meeting today by one its member Kholendro to the people.
