Imphal, August 09 2017:
Students of DM College of Arts have urged the authority concerned to revoke the order issued by the Education (U) to take in extra students, before 12 pm tomorrow .
The students of DM College of Arts, today, staged a sit-in-protest inside the college campus demanding the authority concerned to revoke the order at the earliest .
According to the students, around 1000 students were selected based on the merit list of the DM Arts entrance test for 1st semester and the classes had already begun from July 4 .
Condemning the State Government's order to take in extra 120 students, the protesters claimed that even the selected students have been suffering many inconveniences due to the lack of proper infrastructure and facilities .
They expressed shock at the State Government's absurd actions and demanded the authority concerned to take up necessary steps to provide adequate infrastructure and replacement for retired teaching staff instead .
The students pointed out that they had even released a press release earlier threatening to close the administrative block in case the authority concerned took up such steps of taking extra students .
The students locked the administrative block of DMC Arts from yesterday after the State Government's order reached the Principal's office on August 6 .
