Four remanded to Judicial custody

Four individuals arrested in connection with the death of five individuals after consuming spurious local liquor, have been remanded to Judicial custody till August 22 after they were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal West I.The four individuals identified as Asem Shyamkumar (50) s/o (L) Ibomcha of Oinam Sawombung Makha Leikai, Elangbam Imo (45) s/o E Ibomcha of Oinam Sawombung Makha Leikai, Bina Kamei (45) w/o (L) Khamba Kamei and her son Apu Kamei (24) of Thiyam Leishangkhong Kabui Khul, were produced before the JMIC Imphal West I Court by a team of Wangoi police station along with a prayer for judicial remand till August 22 .
On the other hand, the defence counsel of the arrested mother and son duo, filed a bail application.
However, the Court rejected the bail application and remanded all four individuals to Judicial custody.
It may be mentioned that all four of them were arrested by a team of Wangoi police station for adulteration of local liquor which led to the death of five persons of Oinam Sawombung after consuming the spurious liquor on July 29 and 30 .
Bina and her son Apu Kamei are alleged to have manufactured the local liquor along with other family members and supplied it to the other two arrested individuals, Asem Shyamkumar and Elangbam Imo.
