Locals boycott Councillor

Locals of Kakching have boycotted Councillor of Ward No 6, Kakching Municipal Council, N Narajit for misusing an amount of Rs 3,26,133 sanctioned under the first instalment of the 14th Finance Commission (Award) .
Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here today, Ksh Babu, one of the locals said that an amount of Rs 3,26,133 was sanctioned for every Ward for electrification and construction of roads but Councillor N Narajit has been using the fund according to his whims without consulting the locals.
As such, the locals have decided to boycott him for his wrongdoing, he said.
He alleged that the shops being constructed at the erstwhile site of the old hospital by the municipal council was initiated in the interest of few vested individuals.
He mentioned that the previous Government had proposed to construct a mega market complex at the site.
Regarding the proposal, Senior Citizen Forum, Kakching met MAHUD Minister on May 27 last and submitted an application.
The Minister had instructed MAHUD Director to prepare a DPR for construction of the market complex, he reminded .
He also reiterated that Wabgai MLA had written a letter to DC Thoubal in 2015 asking to not allow construction of shops at the site.
A written statement was also submitted to DC Kakching and Chairperson of Kakching MC asking them to work in the interest of the locals, he added.
He contended the ongoing construction is against Manipur Municipality Disclosure Act, 2008 .
