Imphal, November 25 2018:
There have been 218 cases of violence against women since January to November 24 this year in Manipur.
A total of 44 rape cases were reported.

Most of the cases go unreported and unnoticed, said WAD in a statement yesterday issued by its coordinator T Nomita.
Rape, rape and murder, murder, sexual harassment, trafficking, physical assault, suicide and cyber crime against women are increasing in the State.
There also have been cases of'abandoning girl child' in the State.
Four such cases were reported this year (upto November 24).Of the four children abandoned, three are girls.
Two were found alive and rescued while one was found dead.
This strongly indicates abuse of girl children, said WAD.
Even though crime against women are increasing, the State witnessed a higher rate of conviction in such cases, said WAD and informed that there have been 15 convictions so far in rape cases.' Five were sentenced to life imprisonment while one was awarded death penalty.
But most of the cases are from 2013 and later years.
One case dated some 19 years back, said WAD.
Six of the cases involved minors, it said.
Calling for collective efforts in curbing crime against women, WAD has started "International Fortnight Observation Protesting Violence Against Women" Sunday.
The observance will continue till December 10.WAD in association with other organisations across the State will campaign against the crimes during the observation.
