Tributes to be paid to Khongjom heroes

Imphal, April 22 2012:
Remembering all the Manipuri heroes who laid down their lives for the sake of protecting the sovereignty of their motherland in Khongjom war, 1981, floral tributes would be offered tomorrow at Khongjom river where blood of the brave Manipuri heroes had been drained.
At the occasion, Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, high ranking government officials and representatives of civil organizations would be present.
At 9.05 am, the Governor and the Chief Minister would lead the people in offering floral tributes at Khongjom War Memorial complex located atop Khebaching.
A contingent of Manipur Rifles would also offer Guard of Honour, General Salute and play the Last Post at the occasion.
At 9.25 am, floral tributes would be paid to the statue of Paona Brajabashi and personnel of Manipur Rifles would give Gun Salute.
At 9.40 am, Tarpon would be offered at Khongjom river.
