Imphal, July 15 2011:
Three instructors of National Institute of Nursing, Soibam Leikai have categorically denied their involvement in any financial matters of the institute as had been accused by some of the students recently.
Jointly briefing media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Thongbam Rinata d/o Th Budha of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai, L Karuna d/o Momon of Bamon Kampu and Maibam Jurmana w/o M Premkumar of Pishum Oinam Leikai said they worked at the said Institute as instructors and have no involvement in matters concerning payment of fees by the nursing students.
Informing that the Soibam Leikai institute was run under the Nursing Rural Health Guide Hospital and Research, the three also rubbished accusation by the students of their (instructors) disappearance after the nursing students were left in the lurch.
Maintaining that collection of admission fees or other financial matters were handled by the Institute founder Ksh Ibotombi of Mayang Imphal but reportedly staying at Nambol Thongkha, and principal S Chitra, they also prevailed upon the students that all financial matters should be settled with the two individuals rather than making false accusation against them.
Stating that at the time of their enrolment as instructors in March 2010 the nursing students were already admitted/studying at the Institute, the three reasoned that there is no room for involvement in the collection of admission fee or other financial matters.
They further revealed that the Institute authorities had asked them to deposit Rs 40,000 each for the job with another amount of Rs 20,000 each as donation to the Institute which Karuna complied while Rinata and Jurmana only paid Rs 10,000 each.
It is also informed that due to certain disagreement with S Kumar Institute of Nursing, Porompat on the issue of affiliation National Institute of Nursing, Soibam Leikai resulted in disruption of normal academic activities from December 21, 2010 before classes were ultimately suspended from the next day following issuance of fake admit cards to the students who were supposed to appear in the yearly examination at the Porompat institute, they added.
