'1 more Swine Flu case confirmed; 2 tested negative'

Imphal, March 13 2015 :
Two of the three persons tested positive for Swine Flu in Manipur had succumbed to the virus and the third one has been discharged from hospital after his condition improved, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing informed the State Assembly on Friday.
Three out of six patients suspected to be infected with H1N1 virus have been officially confirmed to be positive for the virus, the minister added.
He said Manipur recorded its first Swine Flu case on March 5 .
The Health Minister informed that two had died of Swine Flu in the State so far and one infected with the virus has been discharged from hospital after the patient's condition has upgraded.
Phungzathang was replying to a question by MLA Dr I Ibohalbi in the House.

The minister said health of the third patient is now under strict observation.
He also said two suspected patients have tested negative for H1N1 in the State.
Phungzathang cited that nearly 25,000 people have been affected by Swine Flu and around 1,400 persons had succumbed to the disease in India.
In Manipur, he said, the State Government has taken up various precautionary measures to contain the virus.
He said a monitoring cell constituted by the State Government has been collecting reports on Swine Flu.
Isolated wards for Swine Flu patients have been kept opened at RIMS, JNIMS and all district hospitals with three ventilators providing at RIMS, he informed.
"The State Government has already kept adequate drugs and other requirements for treatment of Swine Flu cases," the Health Minister said.
He appealed to the public not to be so panicky about Swine H1N1 virus.
In a call motion, MLA Ibohalbi alleged that surveillance network for Swine Flu in the State was very weak and said appointment of a director for the public health directorate could help in stepping up the work.
