Imphal, February 09, 2012:
Leaders of the Opposition alliance, People's Democratic Front (PDF), who have been to Kolkata to meet the leaders of Trinamool Congress with a view to unite all the non-Congress parties of the state and form a new government returned to Imphal today.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, President, MPP, who is also the Convenor of PDF, said that although they have not been able to meet Mamata Bannerjee, President of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and Chief Minister of West Bengal, the message for uniting all the non-Congress parties for formation of the next government in Manipur was conveyed.
The leaders of PDF including himself and Th Chaoba, ex-MP were asked to meet Mukul Roy, AITC, Manipur in-charge before meeting Mamata Bannerjee, but were unable able to meet him as well since he was in Goa at present, Dr Luwang informed, adding that PDF leaders would be going to Kolkata again after Mutul returns from Goa to discuss unification of all non-Congress political parties.
Dr Luwang asserted that there would be surely a non-Congress government in the state this time.
Even if the Congress manages to come out as the single largest party, PDF would make sure that there is no Congress rule in Manipur.
To make this comes true, MPP will sacrifice everything, he pledged.
Dr Luwang went on to say that in order to install a non-Congress party in Manipur all the non-Congress parties would come together as one.
For this, PDF has already started sending feelers to CPI, MSCP and other political parties in the state.
Talks with all the non-Congress parties would start very soon.
Although the earlier attempt to bring CPI into the pre-poll alliance was not successful, it is quite hopeful this time that CPI would join post poll alliance.
