MPA celebrates raising day

Manipur People's Army (MPA), army wing of the proscribed UNLF has celebrated its 25th raising day at its general headquarters, its different units, battalion headquarters, tactical head-quarters and the UNLF's central headquarters as well as its different branch units today.
Offering of floral tributes to those who have laid down their lives in the course of the liberation movement, reading out of the messages given by the UNLF's military affairs committee, acting Chairman and the MPA's COAS were the main features of the raising day celebration.
Moreover, a special documentary film titled "Manipur-The Raging Fire for Freedom" produced by the outfit's department of publicity in commemoration of the MPA's silver jubilee was also screened today.
The film opened with a message to the international community to support the movement for restoration of Manipur's sovereignty followed by another message to the revolutionary groups of the land to join hands for a collective struggle for liberation of the land.
The film also made a graphic representation of how Manipur was merged into the Indian Union, torture and human rights violation by security forces under the immunity guaranteed by AFSPA, people's movements against excesses committed by security forces as well as a brief story on the struggle of UNLF/MPA against the State.
A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba further conveyed gratitude to all fraternal revolutionary groups and the people of Manipur who sent wishes and conveyed messages of solidarity to MPA on its 25th raising day.
It also conveyed gratitude to the journalist fraternity of the State.
