KLAM observes its 10th foundation day

Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup (KLAM) today observed its 10th Founday Day at Phayeng Sabal Leikai at the resident of its member Ningthoujam Sunil.
Member of Khurkhul Zilla Parishad Khaidem ongbi Sevanandi and President of KLAM IC Asem graced the function as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Writer Salam Tomba also attended the function as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of KLAM, Jamuna Mayengbam said that KLAM was established in 2002 with an aim to provide a common platform to the young budding writers of the state with special reference to Kanglei language (Meeteilon).
As the organisation observed its foundation day every year, it strengthens its pledges to promote and conserve Meeteilon.
KLAM is also committed to promot language which is not used commonly today and coin new words based on the vast vocabulary of Meeteilon.
With its rich publications of 39 books including short stories, poems, novel, drama and collections of literary works, KLAM is planning to organise special programmes to promote and conserve Meeteilol in the month of Sajibu of Maliyakum 3409, she said.
She also appealed to the people of the state to press the state government to form a separate directorate for Manipuri language by 2013.ZP member Khaidem ongbi Sevanandi hailed the efforts of KLAM towards promotion of Meeteilon.
It is also a pride of Phayeng that Angom Sarita, a member of KLAM from Phayeng bagged the Thokchom Khogendra Memorial Gold Medal, she added.
A collection of poems, 'Mirelsigee Pukningda Yeirakpa Sheireng' compiled by Okendro Khundongbam and an audio CD entitled 'Mitchannarui Karigee Eina' were released to mark the occasion during which Writer Angom Sarita, who won the Thokchom Khogendra Memorial Gold Medal, was also honoured with simple gifts and citation.
