Imphal, December 02 2013 :
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's promise for 18-hour power supply to the public in a day would remain an "unfulfilled promise" even in the next year.
The power supply in the State could not be improved unless the Silchar-Jiribam-Imphal 400 KV power line is completed.
The Power Grid Corporation of India has reportedly informed the State Government of a new deadline for the completion of 400 KV power line.
The deadline has been fixed a year later than the previous target.
The State would still face shortage of power supply till 2015 .
According to a reliable source, the Silchar-Jiribam-Imphal 400 KV power line is supposed to be completed by 2013-14.However, the work has been disrupted within the State.
The HT power line is to be laid for a distance of 165 kilometres from Jirbam to Imphal.
A large area of patta land is affected while erecting the towers to support the power line.
The land owners are demanding higher compensations to which the Power Grid Corporation is unwilling to pay.
The demand for higher compensation came after reported hike in the compensation for Jiribam-Tupul Railway Project.
Around 165 towers are to be erected within the State for the 400 KV power line, the source added.
