15 tainted cops stripped of their elite status

Imphal, November 20 2013:
As announced earlier by DGP MK Das, altogether 15 police commandos who were involved in various police cases and are currently under Departmental Inquiry have been removed from the elite Manipur Police Commando Unit.
According to report received by Hueiyen Lanpao, out of the 15 commando personnel suspended, nine of them under trial after CBI charge-framed against them for their alleged involvement in the July 23, 2009 Kwairamband Keithel shootout incident where one youth identified as Chungkham Sanjit and a pregnant woman namely Thokchom Rabina were shot dead.
The nine suspended Commandos have been identified as Imphal West District Police Commando Inspector H Devendra; SI K Punshiba, Head Constable Th Herojit; Head Constable O Kishore; Havildar (8 MR) Th Jagat; Constable Makam Kamchung; Rifleman (8 MR) Md Tayaima and Rifleman (6 IRB) Md Imran.
Other six personnel charged in the U Morok seller rape case and other incidents and are under Departmental Inquiry have been also removed from the commando unit.
They are Imphal West District Police Commando Constable Driver Kh Dhanaraj Sharma; Imphal East District Police Commando SI RK Brojen; SI AK Jotin; Thoubal Police Commando Head Constable H Sakti; Bishnupur District Police Commando SI N Tiken and ASI Onkhomang Haokip.
Meanwhile, a high level meeting of police officers chaired by DGP MK Das this evening has discussed issues related to keeping a different dress code for the police Commandos and inscription of Meitei Mayek script on all the police vehicles and signboard of police stations.
