Lamka, November 20 2013:
Expressing grave concern and perturbed that many candidates from outside the district had applied for contractual engagement of staff in Watershed Development Teams (WDTs) under IWM programme, the Zomi Students' Federation (ZSF) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) today issued a joint statement reiterating that local candidates be given outright priority.
The ZSF and KSO have come to learn that there are more than enough candidates possessing eligible criteria from Churachandpur district, the statement said.
They demanded the concerned authority to ensure that candidates from outside the district are not entertained nor selected.
The joint statement also pledged to remain vigilant in the recruitment process so that justice is done to those candidates from the district.
The recruitment notification has as well stated that eligible and suitable candidates from within the district will be given priority.
Any deviation from it or in any case of discrepancy or favouritism shown to outside candi- dates will invoke the ire of the two student bodies, it warned.
