Imphal, January 19 2013 :
Gauhati High Court, Imphal Branch has summoned five Government officers including Principal Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu in connection with failure of providing necessary benefits under Family Pension Scheme to the surviving family members of a rifleman of 2nd Manipur Rifles.
Apart from Dr J Suresh Babu, the other four Government officers who have been asked to appear before the court at 10.30 am on January 28 are IPS Officer and the then Director General of Police Ratnakar Baral, IPS Officer and Commanding Officer of 2nd Manipur Rifles Sarangthem Manaobi, Joint Secretary of Pension Cell Athem Muivah and the then Accountant General Stephen Hungray.
The case related to Rifleman of 2nd MR Hijam Inaobi who passed away in 1990 .
Acting on a petition filed by Hijam Tondonbi, wife of late Inaobi, the court had passed an order on August 17, 2011 for providing the necessary benefits to the surviving family members within October 21 of the same year.
However, as the court order has not been complied with, the petitioner filed a contempt petition, thus leading to the present court summon against the five Government officers.
