While drought like situation causing hardship in the cultivation works of the farmers, the sudden heavy down pour of rain from August 14 night till morning of the next apprehension of flood looming.
The heavy down pour had relief the farmers who started cultivation work with anyhow in the fields but many fields which remained dry due to water scarcity are feeling apprehension of get fruit when they cultivate their field with the lately arrived rain.
On the other hand, residents of Imphal faced flooding due to the heavy down pour of rain.
Residents are facing flood in their dwelling places.
Homesteads standing on the sides of the Waishel Maril in Imphal west district were most sufferers.
Many of them are underwater till today.
Non-clearance of the drain well by the authorities has been blamed by residents blamed.
The heaviest rainfall day of the season that made overflow the Nambul River after cracking the culvert to regulate flow of water also flooded Lamphel, Tera Akham Leikai, an instant which residents has been facing in every rainy season.
A report from the meteorological office at Imphal airport, the rate of rainfall on the night of August 14 was 78 milliliter and that was the heaviest rainfall in this current year.
As per the source from the state irrigation and flood control department, the rainfall recorded at the observation centre at Imphal Raj Bhavan on August 15 was 23 milliliter.
It was 25 ml at Lamphel, 58 at Kangpokpi, 62 at Saikhul and 79 at Litan.
For today, the rainfall rate was 1.75 at Raj Bhavan, at Lamphel 2 ml, at Kangpokpi 27, Saikul 7 and 3 ml at Litan.
Due to the rainfall condition, Imphal River flow above the warning level with 766.100 above the sea level this morning at 6 while Nambul river above the flood level at 785.050 above the sea level but Iril river slightly below warning level.
