Imphal, February 09 2019:
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C MLA Soibam Subhaschandra has opined that the only way for improving the condition of Government Schools in the State is for the elected persons/leaders and the officials of the Education Department to admit their children in the Government schools.
He made the statement during the distribution of school kits to the students of Ningombam Junior High School today.
He said that to improve the Government schools, only words and promises will not suffice.
MLAs, Zilla Parishad, Pradhans and Director of Education Department and employees of the Department need to have the desire to send their children to the Government Schools first, he said, adding that his daughter was admitted to Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School in Class XI from the last academic session.
The MLA continued that around 20 years ago, Ningombam Government Junior High School and Ningombam Government Aided High School (which are located inside the same campus) were well established and had over 500 students each.
Over time, the institute deteriorated but after the coming of the new State Government, the people of Ningombam, Hiyangthang, Kodompokpi and Langthabal Phuramakhong formed the Ningombam Educational Cooperative Society and due to their efforts, the school now has around 310 students.
The newly launched Go to School mission has brought development to the Ningombam Junior High School and pre-nursery, nursery and KG have been added from this academic year, Subhaschandra added.
Pointing out that the school kits containing uniform, and bags have been distributed to bring further development to the school, the MLA said that apart from the Government funds, the kits were also sponsored from his Local Area Development Funds as well.
Van service is also in the offing, he added.
Subhaschandra conveyed that Malom Megha High School has been selected for development into a model school under the School Fagathansi mission and from next year, Kumari High School of Hiyangthang will be developed.
On the other hand he informed that preparations are underway to find an appropriate spot for Kha-Imphal High School which was included in the Nambul eviction.
Konjeng Leikai High School will also be developed within the next 4 years, he added.
Retired teacher of Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School Wangkhem Brajamani, ZEO Wangoi AIs Th Pratima and Yumnam Nikendra also attended the event as the presidium members.
