TAMOA poses riders to RIMS Director

In an effort to overhaul the status and image of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), the Executive Committee of Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association (TAMOA) has placed a charter of demands to the authorities of the institute.
A press communiqu� issued Thursday by TAMOA secretary L.Suresh Roy listed 15-point demands while urging the RIMS director to fulfill most of it within the current month of August.
The decision on the matter was taken earlier during its Executive Committee Meeting on July 31 .
The Executive Committee members during the meeting took serious note of the prolonged failure of RIMS administration concerning the welfare of the employees and other issues of the institute.
The association apprised the authorities concerned to furnish rules and regulations pertaining to leave travel concession, medical reimbursement, attendance of national and international conferences by the doctors, and approved reservation for appointment of doctors in the medical institute.
TAMOA's demands also include free treatment facility for BPL card holders, safe drinking water facility, free emergency medicine and investigation provision at casualty, free usage of toilets, adequate parking place for employees, removal of security accommodation in the first floor of emergency services, completion of time scale promotion process for the year 2014 and abolition of non-sanctioned post in-charge operation while replacing it by head of Anaesthesiology Department.
Further, the other key demands are initiating action against responsible officer for failure in uploading Tax Deduction at Source for the staff and timely transfer of monthly installment of employees to insurance company and banks.
It also asked the authorities to frame institutional policy of assigning senior most professors to in-charge capacity in absence of director, medical superintendent and dean (academic) .
The association further urged the RIMS director to widely circulate the clarification on allegations made by DESAM, while adding that consultants and junior doctors on duty for OPD and operation theatre be available by 9AM, and develop an internal monitoring mechanism to ensure timely attendance of doctors and employees.
TAMOA has also set a three-month deadline for completion of repairing work of ICU, ground floor of operation theatre and mini auditorium of the institute.
