Lockdown poses challenge for daily wagers

As imposing total lockdown had brought activities to a grinding halt, daily wagers, with no source of income, are finding it hard to cope with this unprecedented challanges presented by COVID-19 .
Speaking to The Sangai Express, one construction worker said that feeding his family has become an uphill task as he no longer can go to work.
The situation seems to be only worsening but our food stocks and money are about to run out, he asserted.
Some weavers approached by this media house narrated that there sales have dropped significantly as majority of the population are worried only about food stocks drying up.
"Selling clothes to make some profit at our locality is also not an option as fear of COVID infection is gripping the population, with many sticking notes at their respective gates not to enter," they said.
Saying that they used to provide monetary assistance in running their families by selling clothes, the weavers said that they have no ideas how to look after their families as they are almost out of jobs now.
Though imposing total lockdown is neccesity as COVID-19 related deaths have now been reported from the State, poor people don't have the luxury to feed their families wihout working, they said and requested the State Government to work out somethings to mitiage the sufferings of impoverished families.
