Inter-village road named "Bokul Lambi"

As a part of mass plantation drive, Lamjao Part-1 Development Association has today planted around 180 Bokul plants (Bakula/ Spanish cherry/medlar/and bullet wood) along the sides of the road stretch which connects Lamjao village and Hiyanglam village.
The road stretch was also renamed as "Bokul Lambi" during the plantation drive which was attended by MLA of Hiyanglam AC, Dr Y Radheshyam; Brand Ambassador of Green Manipur Mission, Elangbam Valentina; Range Forest Officer, Kakching, N Munal Meitei; former Pradhans of Mayeng Lamjao GP and Hiyanglam GP among others.
Speaking at the occasion, The local MLA appealed to all to make sure the saplings planted today grow well and make the road a picturesque and attractive one to all commuters.
Urging all present refrain from erecting fences during such a hard situation due to COVID-19, he also appealed to all to rather strictly follow SOP and guidelines issued by the Government for the sake of safety for all.
N Munal Meitei, on the other hand, said that it would be ideal for all to fight COVID-19 and safeguard the environment at the same time.
He said that the initiative of the Lamjao Part-1 Development Association to plant saplings along the 2-km long road stretch during such a crucial time is commendable.
"Naming roads after the name of the tree species planted along it would surely take us closer to nature," he continued while calling on others to take up such a noble initiative in their respective localities and spread greenery across the State.
