'Manipuri films need qualitative improvement for market expansion'

CEO of T-Series Film Academy, Subhadip Raha has conveyed that in a bid to ensure the people of Manipur can avail the facilities provided by T-Series Stageworks Academy like performing arts and pre and post production courses, two T-Series Film Academy Info Centres have been established in the State by T-Series Film Academy and Don Bosco College Maram.
The CEO also stated that a Manipur short film will be shot as well in this regard.
Speaking to media persons at Hotel Classic today, Subhadip Raha said that the North East region has many talented people but it feels as if the region lack the opportunities needed to showcase and bring out these talents.
He said that an academy was first set up in Guwahati in a bid to provide a proper platform for these talents to shine.
Two info centres were then established at Maralong Colony Senapati and near Yes Bank, Khoyathong road, he said adding that the academy has various classes/courses ranging from performing arts, acting, modelling, dancing, singing, instruments as well as pre and post production, making of films, television, cinematography, film and video editing, VFX, graphics and animation, colour correction, sound designing, screenplay and script writing etc.
He continued that as only training is not feasible in today's world, opportunities for placement assistance are also available.
Speaking about the source fees, he said that there will be special fee structures for the North East students as well and appealed to the people of Manipur to avail this benefit.
He announced that 5 orphans from the North East region, will be given training at free of cost and he also expressed desire for a proper collaboration with the State Government in order to increase the scope of awareness and reach.
On the other hand, course advisor and former Film Forum Manipur chairman, filmmaker L Surjakanta Sharma said that this is a very good opportunity for the people of Manipur.
He also explained about the advancement of technology and the impact it has on the filmmakers and technicians.
He further stressed on the importance of producing good quality films to expand the market for Manipuri films and appealed to the people to support the initiative by T-Series as well.
T-Series Academy Chairperson Suresh Sharma, PRO Piyush Sharma and Manipur film actress Soma Laishram were also present as well.
