2nd MNCA U-16 Cricket : YUCC ensure semi-final berth as Model Club trounce Blue Hawk by 284 runs

YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel thrashed PCC, Mayaikoibi by 177 runs to go on top of the Group A table with 20 points in 5 matches while Model Club hung on by sealing an impressive 284 run victory against Blue Hawk in a Group B league match today in the 2nd MNCA U-16 Boy's Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2020 .
In the Group A league match played at Luwangpokpa Cricket ground, YUCC posted a total of 233 runs for 7 after electing to bat first and held PCC to 56 for 6 in their quota of 30 overs.
The first innings saw Kadamjit hit an unbeaten half century with 57 runs off 32 balls while Max and Rohit gather 37 and 26 runs.
Bidyashwor (16) and Thoungamba (18) also added double digit scores to YUCC tally apart from extra 30 runs in this innings to ensure 233 runs at the end.
PCC's Themission and Ajay bagged two wickets each in this innings as Anjan and Lucky picked up a wicket each before the team had a disastrous chase.
PCC's Themission with 13 runs off 66 balls was the highest score in the chase and Bikash with 11 runs off 24 balls was the other double digit scorer.
YUCC's Punshiba dismissed three in this innings while Devaraj managed two wickets besides maintaining a perfect economy to assure their team a big win and a place in the semi-final.
Kadamjit who hit a half century for YUCC was named man of the match.
Meanwhile at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, Model Club, Chingamakha handed their 5th straight defeat and remain fourth with 12 points from 5 matches in Group B league table.
Their possibility of qualifying for the last 4 stage remained uncertain and will depend on the result of their last match against CYCLONE (currently 3rd with 16 points from 5 matches) as OSCAR are currently holding second place with 16 points from 6 matches and RCA are at pole position with 24 points.
After being let to bat first, Model Club started strongly with Abhijen hitting a 50-ball 64 and Grenson grabbed a brilliant 50 runs off 44 balls before Suson hit an unbeaten 105 off 51 balls to make it 312 for 4 in 30 overs.
Ishan was also on 34 not out in this innings which saw poor Blue Hawk bowlers gift 39 runs extra.
Bidyasagar, Zakir, Bijoy and Nikhil bagged a wicket each in this innings for Blue Hawk before they were bowled out for a meagre 28 runs in just 10.4 overs as the team lost 4 wickets to Abhijen and 3 to Ishan in quick succession.
Suson also managed 2 wickets for 8 in 4 overs to earn the man of the match award while Grenson fetched a wicket to earn Model Club a big win.
