Imphal, September 03 2019:
Declaring its ban on celebration of Teachers Day on September 5, Joint Student Coordination Committee (JSCC) has appealed to all institutions not to observe the day on September 5 .
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQs today, JSCC convenor Peter Laishram remarked that the day celebrating the sanctity of teacher-student relationship has been tarnished as the celebration has steered more towards being luxurious and expensive.
The celebration is all about competition on who gives the most expensive gift inspite of respecting the true sense of Teachers Day, he maintained.
JSCC strongly condemns such trend of shifting the true essence of relationship between teachers and students into a money-oriented celebration, he added.
He urged all institutions in the State not to observe the day on September 5 .
On the other hand, Peter said that JSCC will look into the incident of Smart Universal Academy Sekmaijin where its secretary allegedly beat up two students on August 29 .
