Imphal, September 03 2019:
Male students of RIMS today raised an uproar over sub-standard and unhygienic food items served in their mess.
Photographs and video clips of RIMS students trying to storm the medical institute's administrative block were circulated in social media this afternoon.
Soon after, media persons rushed to RIMS and it was learnt that the uproar was fuelled by the RIMS Director's refusal to talk with the students who were aggrieved due to serving sub-standard and unhygienic food items.
A few days back, a video clip suspected to be uploaded by RIMS students were seen in social media along with comments.
The video clip shows worms/faggots moving in a curry.
The comments given under the video clip say that there was a cook to cook foods for students but the cook had been removed and the task of cooking foods has been entrusted to an NGO for reasons not known.
As a result, preparing foods became very lousy and unhygienic, say the comments.
However, neither the RIMS authority nor the agitating students said anything about the matter to the media persons who went to the institute today.
Nonetheless, it is said that the RIMS authority and the agitating students have talked over the matter and arrived at an understanding.
