RNSOM seeks attention of authorities on frequent accident along NH-37

The Rongmei Naga Students Organisation Manipur has sought the attention of the Police Department and authorities concerned on the 'frequent accidents happening' along National Highway-37 (Jiribam-Imphal).
An accident took place today at Nungba area where a Maruti A-Star car belonging to one Naorem Bijen Singh of Oinam Sawombung Awang Leikai coming from Jiribam was dragged at least 10 metres, after collision, by a speeding oil tanker coming from Imphal, said RNSOM.
The driver who fled the scene was later apprehended by police at Barak bridge, it added in a statement today.
Accident also took place on August 27 at Nungba in which a car was knock down 40 metres below the highway by an oil tanker.
Another accident involving oil tanker also happened on August 17, it said seeking the attention of the police and other departments concerned to check drunk driving, over speeding and careless driving, especially oil tankers operating in the highway.
It also urged the Government to increase men power of Nungba Police Station to successfully check and prevent traffic/rash driving vehicles on the highway.
