Imphal, December 02 2013 :
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) would take up the Indo-Myanmar border issue in the State as a national issue to the Parliament.
Informing this to media persons at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here today, party's State unit President Thounaojam Chaoba said that the national leaders of BJP have discussed the border issue thoroughly by gathering all important information and documents.
The loss of State's territory is a concern for the nation and hence it would be raised at the Parliament as a national issue.
The State BJP leaders have already met BJP National President Rajnath Singh, Opposition Leader of Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Oppositon Leader of Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley in this regard.
BJP President Rajnath Singh has also written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh drawing his attention towards the controversial Indo-Myanmar border fencing and subsequent loss of Manipur's territory to Myanmar, he noted.
Chaoba further said that the delegation of political parties to New Delhi would bear no fruit to address the current border issue.
They would simply urge the Prime Minister and Home Minister to halt the border fencing and conduct joint boundary survey along Indo-Myanmar border.
This issue cannot be resolved merely by visiting the central leaders in New Delhi, he contended.
The BJP had once made a mistake by including a clause "without territorial limit" in Indo-NSCN (IM) Cease Agreement, but it was retracted following people's uprising in the State.
The Congress Government should also have the same guts to make necessary rectification on the issue of Indo-Myanmar border fencing if they are doing something wrong, the State BJP President enjoined.
