Khelendo admits to killing Premila
Mob ransacked house, protests unabated

Imphal, April 15 2012:
Thoubal District Police have arrested the main culprit involved in the case FIR no.56(4) 2012 KCG PS related to kidnapping and subsequent brutal killing of Keisham Premila Devi (45) d/o Keisham Irabot Singh of Wabagai Thingel Leikai from Kakching Chumang Leikai area.
The main culprit identified as Mayanglambam Khelendro alias Amujao (32) s/o M Radhamohon Singh pf Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng Leikai has also admitted to the crime.
It may be recalled that almost burnt skeleton of Premila was found abandoned at Kakching Mahadeva hillock on April 9.One mobile hand set (Nokia model no.NI 208) belonging to Premila was also recovered from the possession of the arrested accused person.
According to police report, preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was a cadre of an UG organization and he had been arrested thrice earlier but each time released on bail.

The police report said that Khelendro befriended Premila and called out her through her mobile phone on March 25 .
He took her to different locations before killing her and setting her body on fire and abandoning it at Kakching Mahadeva hillock.
Accused Khelendro was produced the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Thoubal today afternoon and remanded him to police custody till April 24 .
The case registered against the accused included relevevant provisions under Section 302, 343, 365 and 402 IPC related to murder, rape and cheating.
Further investigation of the case in full swing, the police report added.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, accused Khelendro was arrested from his house at around 7 pm yesterday by a team of Kakching Police.
But as his family members had given him water lashed with intoxicants at the time of handing him over to the police, Khelendro was taken to JNIMS for treatment.
He was discharged from the hospital at around 9.30 am today.

But soon after being discharged from the hospital, a team of Thoubal police took him into their custody.
Infuriated over the conduct of Khelendro, a large number of local people gathered at his Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng resience at around 9.45 am and destroyed the house amid shouting of slogans.
As the mob were dismantling the the house, a team of akching police rushed in to control the situation.
Meanwhile, protest demonstrations continued to be staged demanding punishment of the killer.
The protest demonstrations were witnessed at Iboudhou Naohallai ground at Kakching Market.
Kakching, Wabagai and Kakching Khullen today.
In these protest demonstrations, leaders of various social organisations also addressed the gathering.
Accordingly, it was decided not to take back the body of Premila until a DNA test is conducted and not to give shelter to anyone found involved in the gruesome killing.
