Trees planted along Arong river bank

Imphal, April 15 2012:
Over 3500 saplings were planted today by local youths and womenfolk along the Arong river bank upto Ekokpat under Khangabok assembly constituency.
Chief Minister O ibobi's wife O Landhoni Devi, who is the Khangabok AC MLA and their son O Surjakanta (Kenedy) also participated at the tree plantation campaign, which the latter said was aimed at joining hands with the global fraternity in the preservation/protection of the environment.
Surjakanta further informed that the saplings of different varieties, including fruit-bearing ones, were procured from private nurseries at a total cost of Rs 2.50 lakhs.
Personnel of Horticulture and Forest departments were also present during the tree plantation campaign.
