Besides strongly condemning the brutal murder of Km Keisham Premila Devi, a public meeting cum sit-in protest jointly organised by civil society organisations, women bodies of Kakching and JAC Against the Brutal Murder of Kumari Keisham Premila resolved to organise various movements from April 17 onwards.
The public meeting held today at Kakching Bazar also resolved that the Government identify the accused person/s for exemplary punishment, preserve the victim's corpse till DNA test result is declared, frame an effective legislation by the Manipur Legislative Assembly to protect the women from similar heinous crimes and launch/organise and launch/organise various movements until and unless there is positive development on the issue.
As a part of the upcoming movements to be organised by district/local level organisations, a sit-in-protest cum public meeting would be held tomorrow at Thoubal district on April 16, which will be followed by similar agitation at Imphal West district on april 17 and Imphal East district on april 18 .
On April 19 the agitation will be sustained at Bishnupur district, decided the public meeting which was attended by representatives of 18 different NGOs.
In the meantime an irate mob attacked the Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng residence of one Mayanglambam Khelendro alias Amujao, whom the locals accused of involvement in the killing of K Premila.
The 35-year old son of M Radha Mohon is said to have been handed over to Kakching police by his own sister namely Bimota (42), who reportedly immobilised the younger sibling by using sedative agents in food.
Even though the accused person has been admitted to a hospital by the police, the locals ransacked his house at around 10.30 am today.
A number of women leaders who addressed the meeting at Kakching Bazar came out strongly against the brutal murder of Premila and demanded that stringent security measures be initiated to prevent recurrence of such bestial acts in the future.
