Welfare scheme for Home Guards

Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association (MHGEWA), with an aim to provide assistance to the home guards, has formed 'Welfare Scheme of Manipur Home Guard Welfare Association' apart from distributing financial aid to the home guards.
MHGEWA president Y Mangi said that under the scheme, the association will provide assistance to retired home guards and families of the deceased home guards.
"MHGEWA has over 2158 members.
In order to extend possible help, we would contribute Rs 200 from each member to give it to the retired home guards and families of our former members who have passed away," he said.
A home guard's salary is just Rs 5000.Even though the Supreme Court has notified the authorities concerned that the monthly salary for the home guards should be Rs 20,700, the same is yet to be implemented in the State, he stated.
He added, "We have put forth our demands before the State Government.
If these demands are not fulfilled by April, we will launch necessary movement thereafter " .
