18 acres of poppy plantation destroyed

Imphal, February 15 2017:
A combined team of Churachandpur Police, Narcotic Affairs and Border and 25 Assam Rifles destroyed around 18 acres of poppy plantation at Khoijang village hill range under Churachandpur police station.
According to a source, the team led by K Sarma Devi destroyed around 18 acres of poppy plantation and planned to carry out the destruction process of poppy plantation till 17 February.
The initiative to destroy poppy plantations has been taken up as per an instruction given by the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the coming State Legislative Assembly election.
The drive against poppy cultivation will continue in other parts of the State too, it added.
