Imphal, February 15 2017:
Following the Election Commission of India's approval to allow candidates belonging to Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Chandel districts to file their nomination papers at Imphal, the Chief Electoral Officer issued a notification to this effect last night.
Notably, tomorrow (February 16) is the last date for filing nomination papers for the second phase of polls scheduled on March 8 .
Now, candidates belonging to the four hill districts can filed their nomination papers to their respective Assistant ROs at Lamphel DC office complex.
Altogether 38 Assembly segments would go to polls in the first phase on March 4 and a total of 215 candidates filed their nomination papers.
Scrutiny of nomination papers would be done tomorrow at the offices of respective ROs.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a full team of the ECI led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi would land here on February 21 on a two-day visit to the State.
The ECI team would hold meetings with political parties, Returning Officers, DCs and SPs.
ECI Manipur in-charge Sudeep Jain would also visit Imphal on February 19 to make a direct assessment of the poll preparations being done in the State, informed a source.
