CS appeals for harmony on Lui Ngai Ni

The State level Lui Ngai Ni festival, the seed sowing festival of Naga community was celebrated at Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong today.
The occasion was graced by Chief Secretary O Nabakishore as chief guest; Additional Chief Secretary WL Hangsing and Additional Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu as guests of honour; retired IAS LP Gonmei as chief host; retired IAS NG Woleng; retired IAS Jerol and IAS Nobert Disinang as special invitees.
The festival started with making of fire in traditional method and lighting up of sacred fire by the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, O Nabakishore ferv- ently appealed to all the people to put differences aside and instead strive for progress towards peace, harmony and development in the State.
He said that celebration of Lui Ngai Ni is a mark of respect to the rich culture and tradition of Naga community.
He further said that people staying in abroad should not forget his origin, culture and tradition as these form integral part of their communities.
The Chief Secretary asserted that the bonding and commonness amongst the different tribes of Naga are witnessed in Lui Ngai Ni festival.
Lui Ngai Ni which is one of the important festivals of the State also marks the bonding with nature and connection of life with agriculture, he added.
He also appealed to the people to nuture commonalities amongst the different communities and maintain brotherhood so as to prevail communal harmony.
Nabakishore further appealed to the people to participate in the forthcoming State Assembly election and elect their representatives for a new Government.
LP Gonmei said that Lui Ngai Ni is celebrated by all the 16 different tribes of Naga since many years.
He informed that this year's theme of the festival is "Sowing on Good Soil, Reaping in Abundance" .
Performance of Naga's cultural songs and dances marked the occasion.
