Imphal, February 05 2013:
With people in the Constituencies of even the ruling Congress MLAs allegedly deprived of the basic and essential services by the State Government, Y Erabot, Congress MLA of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency has resolved to take the role of Opposition.
Addressing media persons at his Khurai Ahongei Leikai residence today, MLA Erabot stated that there seems to be no Opposition in the State Assembly today to speak up against the undoing of Government.
So, the time has come for him to don the role of Opposition in the State Assembly.
Pointing out that people of his constituency have not been getting power supply for the last 3/4 months, MLA Erabot alleged that the Electricity Department is being run by certain individuals who do not know their duty at all.
"The Department has been depriving the rights of the consumers.
As such, a case would be filed in the Consumer Court under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986", he exclaimed.
MLA Erabot further pointed out that more than 212 consumers in his constituency who are settling in parts of Khurai Thangjam Leirak have been facing complete black out since November 6, 2012.Though the concerned authorities have been approached a number of times and complaints made, no positive action has been ever taken up till today.
Stating that the electric transformer at Lamlong Bazaar has remained defunct for the last four months, MLA Erabot charged Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh with deliberately not taking up necessary steps to provide essential services in his Wangkhei Assembly Constituency as he is one of his (Ibobi) arch rivals.
MLA Erabot said that in addition to taking up a case in the Consumer Court, he would also be bringing up the issue in the State Assembly.
He maintained that Manipur has become a land where certain leaders are doing works at their own discretion against the interest of general public.
This is the reason why the State is almost at the verge of collapse today.
