Imphal, March 01 2014 :
All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) has warned that that the tripartite talks involving Indian Government, State Government and United Naga Council (UNC) on the demand for "Alternative Arrangement" should not harm the territorial integrity of the State at any cost.
Talking to media persons at the office of AMUCO here today, its Advisor KT Rahman said that the Indian Government should be aware of the mass rally carried out by lakhs of people in the State on August 4, 1997 decrying the Indo-NSCN (IM) talks which was posing serious threats to the State's territorial unity.
The people's uprising of June 18, 2001 had also compelled the Indian Government to withdraw its decision to extend the Indo-NSCN (IM) cease-fire agreement without territorial limits.
The Indian Government should respect the people's sentiment and do nothing to disintegrate the State, he asserted.
Rahman further maintained that the Indian Government should immediately stop sowing hatred among different communities of the State.
There should not be any hill-plain divide in the State.
The people of Manipur would always stand united to protect the State's territorial integrity, he added.
Rahman also demanded the Central Government and the Manipur Government to bring out a white paper before the people of Manipur on the ongoing meetings between the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the United Naga Council (UNC) in Delhi.
President of AMUCO Dr Y Mani Khuman said that there should be transparency in the ongoing tripartite talks.
The Indian Government and State Government should be sincere in taking up the real cause of the people.
There is no harm in the "Alternative Arrangement" if it does not challenge the territorial integrity of the State.
The people would defy any move to disintegrate the State's territory, he enjoined.
