MLA Th Shyamkumar, MLA St Victor Nunghlung, All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM), Most Rev Dominic Lumon, BJP ST Morcha, JD (U) and ZB (AMN) have extended heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Christmas and New Year.
"Let the divine God bless the people so that all the woes and sufferings are thrown away from the surface of Manipur and hatred and disunity among the communities be washed away like the flood water washes the debris," MLA Shyamkumar wished in a Christmas greeting message.
He also wished that happiness, prosperity, love and tranquillity be poured by the Almighty with the coming of the New Year.
Let the festivals usher in peace, development and understanding among the different ethnic communities of the State, MLA St Victor Nunghlung wished.
"As we celebrate Christmas, may the peace of Christ be present in every individual in the State.
May 2015 be filled with the blessings of the new born Babe, Christ, the prince of peace, so that the New Year be a year free from violence and blessed with the Peace of Christ," AMCO said in a greeting message.
MPCC wished that the Christmas festival heralds peaceful coexistence and the people live in an environment free from deceit and discrimination.
AMCO also urged all concerned not to call any kind of bandh or strike before and during the Christmas celebration while appealing to all concerned to keep away from any form of violence and experience the love, peace and joy of Christmas.
Kuki Inpi Manipur said, "It is a time to forgive and forget the past ill-feelings amongst us, and fill our hearts with the true spirit of love and peace as we celebrate the birthday of Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
"Let peace reign our lives, deeds, community and land as a whole so as to bring forth communal harmony," KIM said while appealing to all concerned to refrain from calling bandh or strike or any violent activities.
KS Khaie Leo, State president BJP ST Morcha wished that the Christmas celebration and New Year bring in love, peace and joy in the State.
"Let us celebrate the occasion with joy and re-dedicate ourselves to the essence of Jesus Christ's teachings for the welfare of humanity and His eternal message of love, compassion and forgiveness for all.
May this joyous holy festival shower everyone with love, peace, prosperity and happiness!" ZB (AMN) said in a statement.
The ZB statement also condemned the bomb blast that took place at Khoyathong on Dec 21 .
It further appealed to the Governments of NE States to deploy security forces as much as possible during the Christmas season to protect the people from anti-social elements.
