Catholic schools reopened

A powerful bomb was detonated a little distance from Catholic School Canchipur while classes were being held in full swing after reopening the Catholic schools in Imphal.
However there is no claim from any underground organisation as yet.
From early hours school vans had started bringing the students to the schools.
Some parents were also seen ferrying their children in private cars and two wheelers.
Teachers and other staff also reached the schools in time.
By an order issued on Tuesday the government had asked the Catholic school authorities to reopen the schools from Wednesday.
If it is not complied with their affiliation to the Board of Secondary Education Manipur would be cancelled.
Besides licenses of those school vans which do not ferry the students will be cancelled.

Though all classes were held normally the number of students was rather low.
The students faced either transportation problem or their parents declined to take chances since the underground organisation vowed to degenerate the Catholic schools to battle grounds.
A large number of All Manipur Students' Union activists formed human chains around the schools to ensure that there was no toward incident triggered by the underground organisation.
Talking to reporters the AMSU functionaries said that the human chains and overall guarding of the students shall continue.
Condemning the ban on the schools they said that the outfit should back out.
Members of other students' groups like DESAM, MSF and others have been striving for the reopening of the schools.
Armed police personnel were also deployed near the schools to ensure that there is no disturbance to the classes.
Official sources said that the police patrolling shall continue till normality is restored.
